Smell The Flowers (#129)
Hello,
I hope you've had a good week!
I've had multiple conversations with my team on the topic of not assuming things. Basic concept but has a far reaching consequence in the day to day life.
I've learnt that our assumptions are invisible cages we build around our perceptions. When we set aside our assumptions, we create space for discovery.
In business, the most disruptive innovations come from questioning basic assumptions. "People will always need physical stores." "Cameras need film." "Cars need drivers." Each assumption challenged created entirely new possibilities.
In relationships, assumptions are even more dangerous. We think we know what someone means, how they feel, why they acted a certain way—without ever truly asking. How much deeper might our connections be if we approached each other with fresh eyes?
Not assuming doesn't mean having no knowledge or discernment. It means holding our knowledge lightly, being willing to update it...
Have a great rest of the week.
Until next time,
Rushabh
